Thomas Beers Announces Retirement After 16 Years of Leadership

Maple City Savings Bank, FSB and its Holding Company, Maple City Savings, MHC is announcing the retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Beers following 16 years of dedicated leadership and service to the organization and the community.

During his tenure, Beers played an instrumental role in the organization’s growth, profitability, and long-term strategic development. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened its position as an independent community banking institution while expanding its services and deepening its commitment to customers and the communities it serves.

Beers was also deeply committed to enhancing community involvement, supporting local organizations, initiatives, and economic development efforts throughout the region.  Among others, he has served numerous years as an officer of the Hornell Area Chamber of Commerce and had served as a member of the Regional Economic Development Advisory Committee (REDAC).

Among the many accomplishments achieved during Beers’ leadership was the establishment of the bank’s landmark Main Street presence in Hornell at 1 Broadway Mall, creating a visible symbol of the organization’s continued investment in the region. He also led the successful addition of the organization’s insurance agency and investment services divisions, allowing the organization to better serve the evolving financial needs of customers.

Having been raised in a small community, Tom understood the essential role that community banking plays in meeting local needs. He carried with him a deep appreciation for the values of small towns—trust, service, and genuine connection—and those values shaped every aspect of his leadership. His vast experience in the banking industry brought valuable insight to Maple City Savings Bank, strengthening its mission and guiding its growth with clarity and purpose.

Throughout his tenure, Tom demonstrated a rare combination of professional expertise and heartfelt commitment to the people we serve. He believed that a bank should be more than a financial institution; it should be a partner in helping families thrive, businesses grow, and communities flourish. His steady leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and unwavering dedication helped ensure that Maple City Savings Bank remained a strong, independent institution rooted in service.

“His leadership has left a lasting impact on our organization, our employees, and the communities we serve,” said Board Chairman, Dr. Richard Andolina, Sr. “His vision, dedication, and commitment to independent community banking have helped shape the strong institution we are today.”

“As Tom retires, we owe him the highest of praise. His legacy is reflected not only in the programs he championed and the progress he guided, but also in the culture of integrity, respect, and community focus that he helped build. Maple City Savings Bank is better because of him, and the communities he touched will continue to benefit from his work for years to come.”

From the beginning, he focused on building a strong internal culture and leadership team that positioned the organization for continued success well into the future. As part of this planned leadership transition, Maple City Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Nick Kelley, CPA, current Chief Financial Officer, will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Kelley brings nearly 10 years of experience with the bank and has been an integral part of the organization’s leadership team with a deep understanding of the organization’s operations and long-term strategy. Kelley is a seasoned financial executive with multiple years of experience in corporate finance and public accounting prior to joining the Bank in 2017.

Additionally, Maple City Savings Bank is proud to announce that Morgan Rundell-Wales, Loan Operations Manager, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer and Secretary. Rundell-Wales also brings nearly 10 years of experience with the bank and has played a key role in strengthening operational processes, supporting strategic initiatives, and fostering collaboration across departments.

“Our focus moving forward remains unchanged,” said Kelley. “We will continue to uphold the same core values and principles that have long defined our organization — delivering exceptional customer service with the same great team our customers know and trust. As a lifelong small-town resident of Western New York, I understand the needs of our communities and am committed to the ongoing support and service of those communities.”

“Maple City Savings Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving a strong and independent community banking presence, while continuing to advance the solid foundation strengthened under Tom’s leadership,” stated Chairman Andolina. “As we commence the institution’s 121st anniversary year, under the capable leadership of Nick Kelley and Morgan Rundell-Wales, we are poised to continue our growth and to remain a vibrant and indispensable contributor to the community.”
